At this hour….a cold front and associated weak area of low pressure are pushing through the state. The surface low of around 1009mb is located east of Anniston with the cold front pushing into the Montgomery metro area. Drier air is beginning to filter in across northwestern sections of the state with rainfall being located right along the boundary and some of it has been quite heavy.
Last hour some 3-4” radar estimated totals cape from the area between Red Hill and Alexander City, AL along State Road 63. We have yet to hear of any real flooding reports, but given that is a pretty rural area and it’s 3am…those may not come until morning.
Here is some of the lightning video that was shot this evening…just a short clip as the storms began to enter the area.
