Still snowing in the North

Heavy snow bands are still ongoing across portions of New England this morning as our powerful surface system continues to slide northward off of the east coast of the United States. Only light snow continues for the metro New York area and has almost tapered off completely in portions of New Jersey. However, Boston is still in the thick of heavier snow bands in what is considered a deformation axis where surface convergence is maximized. Local rates of near 2″ per hour could still occur for the next few hours before the system slides a little further north. Ground blizzard conditions will continue throughout at least the rest of the day as winds continue to howl.

These current totals show you some portions of the NE have been buried by snow…literally. We have seen many photos floating around social networking of snow half way up doors. In many cases people are trapped due to this. Stay indoors and keep warm for a few days. You guys won’t be going anywhere across CT/RI/MA.
