Severe Wx and Chaser Update

11_Update

Our chasers are getting into position for severe storms including the potential formation of supercells.  I know that John and Brantley are headed toward the general area of McComb, MS along I-55.  Nick is further north and just ahead of a severe line of storms that is impacting the Yazoo City area.  Some rotation has been noted in those cells.  We will keep you up to date on what is happening, but you can watch each of them LIVE by clicking their tabs at the top of the page!

Photos from Texas/Oklahoma 10/12–10/13/2012

We will add more photos to the gallery, but here are a few that we have edited from our trip to Texas and Oklahoma thus far.  Video of our supercell intercept near Aiken, Texas also coming soon!

Tornado Watch/Subsequent Threat

SPC has placed parts of the southeast under a Tornado Watch until 2:00AM CDT. Here is an outline of the watch area…

Concerns are also rising for a tornado event in parts of Alabama and Georgia tomorrow. It is likely that Brett will be out tomorrow and possibly even tonight. Stay tuned!

Tornado Threat 9/17?

Good morning everyone! Looking over things this morning it appears that parts of the deep south could be looking at a tornado threat this evening as a surface low moves northeastward from the Louisiana coast.  The Storm Prediction Center has outlined an area for a slight risk from New Orleans, to Montgomery, to LaGrange, to Talbotton, to Destin. Within this outline is a 5% tornado risk meaning there is a 5% chance of experiencing a tornado within 25 miles of any given point.

This area has experienced more sunshine than previous expected, which should, in turn, allow more instability to develop before storms initiate. We’ll be keeping up with this as the situation unfolds.

Look to have Brandon in the field later hopefully. Keep an eye to the sky folks.
